Sarawakian teens aged 12 to 17 to be fully vaccinated before Oct 31

KUCHING, Oct 19: All Sarawakian teenagers aged 12 to 17 are expected to be fully vaccinated before Oct 31, says the State Health Department.

The health department in a statement said Sarawak started to administer Covid-19 vaccinations to teenagers aged 16 to 17 and aged 12 to 15 with certain health issues on Sept 8.

Covid-19 vaccinations for those aged 12 to 15 in Sarawak without comorbidities started on September 24.


As at Oct 17, a total of 231,803 teenagers aged 12 to 17 had received one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine while 121,030 teenagers aged 12 to 17 have completed two doses.

On Covid-19 booster shots, the State Health Department said a total of 11,156 doses have been administered in Sarawak whereby 2,372 doses were given in Miri as at Oct 17.

The health department said Sarawak has begun administering booster shots starting Oct 13.

It added senior citizens who wanted booster shots will get vaccinated at private hospitals and clinics while medical frontliners will get their shots at their respective public and private health facilities.

Eligible individuals may can contact the respective health facilities to set an appointment first.

The list of private hospitals and clinics providing booster shots will be announced to the public from time to time through mass media or social media to facilitate the setting of appointments.

In the meantime, the department said, Sarawak has vaccinated 90.7 per cent of its adult population and 70.1 per cent of the overall Sarawakian population as at Oct 17. ā€” DayakDaily
