Sarawakian Dr Alan Fong re-elected as president of National Heart Association of Malaysia for 2nd term

KUCHING, May 6: Sarawakian Dr Alan Fong has been re-elected as president of National Heart Association of Malaysia (NHAM) for a second term.

Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian in a statement today said Dr Fong is the second Sarawakian who has been elected as president of NHAM after himself.

He also said that out of the 45-year history of NHAM (1979) with 17 presidents, only six of them had been reappointed for two consecutive terms (four years in total).

“They are Dr JK Eapen (1981–1984), Dato Dr Kenneth Chin (1988–1992), Tan Sri Dato Sri Robaayah Zambahari (1992–1996), myself (2008–2012), Prof Dr Wan Azman (2018–2022) and Dr Alan Fong (2022–2026),” he added.

Dr Fong was re-elected during the NHAM annual scientific congress held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from May 3–5. — DayakDaily
