Despite his experience, Dr Malvern shared the challenges that bodybuilders face, constantly needing to improve and maintain their bodies in peak condition.

“The other challenge would be the diet and workload. Even during work, we have to find time to train and so on. At least that’s the challenge for me,” Dr Malvern said.

Philomena thanked everyone for all the help and support that was given to them.

“But we (bodybuilders team) would also like the support, especially from the government, to actually acknowledge our achievements as well,” said Philomena.

She hoped that the team would receive greater appreciation and support from the Sarawak government, enabling them to continue elevating the country’s reputation to even higher standards.

“We never fail to bring home a medal every time we went on the international stage,” added Dr Malvern.

The bodybuilding contingent were welcomed back by the president of Sarawak Bodybuilding Association President, Dato Wee Hong Seng, who is also the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor.

Sarawak’s bodybuilding athletes delivered an impressive show at the Batam event, securing two gold and two bronze medals, which added to Malaysia’s overall tally of 14 medals — 5 gold, 2 silver, and 7 bronze.

Malaysia also achieved a third-place finish among the 30 competing contingents this year. –DayakDaily
