“We first carried out the study in 2018 and over a span of seven years we are carrying out the study again to understand the aspiration of the youths, which we hope to complete end of this year,” he told reporters today, after officiating the State-level Youth Day celebration in Serian.

Abdul Karim, who is also Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, pointed out that Sarawak is among the three states in Malaysia carrying out such study, apart from Sabah and Johor.

He further said that the study, which directly engages with youths, will also take into account the level of satisfaction among them towards the government.

Earlier in his speech, Abdul Karim assured that the government will never neglect its commitment towards the development of youths in Sarawak.

He emphasised that the development of youths is vital for the progress of Sarawak and the country.

“For the development of our local youths, both politically, business and career wise, we will continue with various initiatives.

“We will continue with our engagements with the youths, both in the urban, rural areas and deep into the jungle,” he stressed, adding that such efforts were being carried out although often unpublicised.

Meanwhile, on the annual youth day celebration, Abdul Karim explained that it was to appreciate and acknowledge youths’ roles and contributions towards the development of Sarawak.

Awards were also presented to winners of three categories in the State youth competition; best youth association, best male youth, and best female youth. #
