Sarawak, Uzbekistan’s Fergana Region join hands to strengthen heritage, tourism links

KUCHING, Sept 22: Sarawak and the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan have forged a new partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive collaboration in heritage, arts, crafts, tourism, and the creative industry.

In a statement, the agreement was signed by Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Khayrullo Bozarov, the Governor of the Fergana Region.

The partnership includes joint festivals, cultural showcases, and creative exchange where artisans, performers and creative entrepreneurs from both regions will share skills, co-create projects, and open new markets.

Commenting on the partnership, Abdul Karim said it puts Sarawak and Fergana on the world stage.

“By celebrating heritage and creativity together, we turn tradition into opportunity,” he said.

At the same time, Bozarov noted that Fergana and Sarawak share a spirit of craftsmanship and culture.

“This MOU will let us showcase that strength globally while creating new creative ventures,” said Bozarov.

The MoU will remain in force for five years, with the possibility of extension, marking a strong commitment to deepen ties through culture, tourism, and creativity. — DayakDaily
