KUCHING, Oct 23: The Sarawak government has called on all 68,834 registered trade union members in the State to apply for the Madani Workers Card, an initiative introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on May 1.

In a TVS news, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala said the card represents the federal government’s recognition of workers’ vital contributions to the nation’s holistic development, including those in Sarawak.

He added that the Madani Workers Card serves as a platform for delivering targeted benefits through strategic collaboration between the government and the private sector.

“We encourage more workers, particularly union members, to apply for the Madani Workers Card, as it is one of the initiatives introduced by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Human Resources, Steven Sim Chee Keong, to enhance workers’ welfare and protection,” he told a press conference after officiating the 2025 National-Level Trade Union Movement Colloquium held here today.

He explained that the Madani Workers Card offers a wide range of benefits, including special discounts of up to 30 per cent at over 100 participating companies providing essential goods and services nationwide, to help ease the cost of living.

In addition, cardholders will have access to subsidised training and upskilling programmes, as well as enhanced welfare and social security support. — DayakDaily
