Sarawak, University of Waterloo in Canada explore partnership to enhance State’s water supply system

KUCHING, Aug 15: Sarawak Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (MUT), Datuk Sri Julaihi Narawi, recently led a delegation to the IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition 2024 in Toronto, Canada.

According to a press release, the delegation also made an official visit to the University of Waterloo, a leading institution for water technology and management, to explore a potential partnership aimed at enhancing Sarawak’s water supply system.

The discussion focused on fostering a bilateral collaboration between the Ministry and the University of Waterloo.

The partnership aims to bolster the capabilities of Sarawak’s water supply system by providing direct guidance on advanced technologies and expertise to the State’s water supply agency personnel, particularly in the area of water management.

The Sarawak delegation was warmly received by University of Waterloo vice-chancellor, Dr Bessma Momani, along with senior university officials.

Accompanying Julaihi on the visit were Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication; Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government; and Datuk Michael Tiang, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government (Public Health and Housing), along with officials from various departments and water agencies of Sarawak. — DayakDaily
