MIRI, Feb 14: This Sunday’s Piala Belia 2020 match between Sarawak United (U19) against Negeri Sembilan is expected to be the best platform for the home team to test their abilities.
Coached by David Usof, the team which comprises 28 young and talented football players including four goalkeepers were selected from all over Sarawak.
The selection includes two youths from the Ukit ethnic group -David Sepetok and Glady Aster George – both aged 18.
“The youngest player is aged 16, and we hope this match could help them gain experience not only in term of skills but also players’s adjustment to the game, especially the team formation,” said David at a press conference introducting the team to media in Miri on Friday evening.
David has described the new formed team as a development league for the under 20’s, with new players to carry on Sarawak football legacy.
Also present at the event were Miri District Officer Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf, Miri Football Association president Mohamad Saif Jubaidi and his deputy Nazri Datuk Ahmad Lai.
The Sarawak United U19 campaign ends on June 14 where they are scheduled to meet JDT IV.—DayakDaily
