KUCHING, March 5: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg attended the Sungkei Perdana 2026 held at Astana Negeri Sarawak last night (March 4).
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Abang Johari arrived at 6.40pm with his daughter Dayang Norjihan, followed shortly by Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, at 6.50pm.
Upon arrival, the two guests of honour along with other dignitaries broke their fast followed by performing the obligatory Maghrib prayer along with other Muslim dignitaries.
Among those present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar; Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; and Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin.
The evening continued with the Isyak and Tarawih prayers, followed by a moreh feast, marking the conclusion of the ceremony. — DayakDaily
