Sarawak TYT joins State leaders for his 80th birthday thanksgiving prayers at Jamek Mosque

KUCHING, Oct 9: Sarawak Governor (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar joined State leaders and dignitaries for a thanksgiving prayers ceremony at Jamek Mosque, Petra Jaya, here last night (Oct 8), held in conjunction with celebrations marking his 80th birthday.

Tun Wan Junaidi arrived at about 6.25pm with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, before joining the congregational Maghrib prayers.

The ceremony continued with the recitation of Surah Yasin led by Sarawak Grand Imam Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

This was followed by a zikir marhaban performance by a combined group from Kuching Division, before a thanksgiving prayer was led by the Sarawak Grand Imam.

The programme later continued with congregational Isyak prayers. The ceremony was also broadcast live via the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) livestream on Facebook.

The ceremony brought together Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, ministers, deputy ministers, members of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, heads of State and federal departments, and other invited guests.

Among those present were Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, who is the minister responsible for the 80th birthday celebration; Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Sarawak Islamic Council president Datuk Misnu Taha; Sarawak Mufti Datu Khalidi Ibrahim; Sarawak Attorney-General Dato Sri Saferi Ali; Chief Syarie Judge of Sarawak Datu Awang Suhaili Ledi; and Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer Datu Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir. — DayakDaily
