KUCHING, June 23: Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak endorses the organisation of Sarawak Choral Festival in 2025.
Its Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said Sarawak Choral Festival 2024 saw overwhelming reception and it is only fair that the Sarawak government be there to assist with the organisation of future editions.
“We hope to see this choral festival to not be the first and last. My ministry will definitely give support; that is one of the reasons why I am here.
“We also want to hold a bigger one next year. God willing, we will provide the organiser with the fund,” he said when attending the closing ceremony of Sarawak Choral Festival 2024 held at the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak campus here today.
He added that such a festival has far reaching impact on the development of those participating especially the youth.
“It will be able to build up their character and also (help them to be) better persons in the future,” he said.
Organised by Kuching Choir Society (KCS) in collaboration with Young Choral Academy (YCS), Sarawak Choral Festival 2024 was held from June 21 until 23, with the aim of celebrating and promoting the rich choral heritage of Sarawak, as well as fostering diversity, unity and artistic excellence.
During the festival, twelve local choir groups made history as the first group of choristers to be adjudicated by a panel of distinguished international and local judges in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
