KUCHING, Aug 31: Towards attracting more Australian visitors to Sarawak, the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) in collaboration with Royal Brunei Airlines hosted a familiarisation trip for Australian tour agents to update them on the region’s diverse offerings.
A total of nine Australian tour agents visited Sarawak in an eight-day familiarisation trip that originated in Brunei and brought the Australian travel agents through Sarawak’s ecotourism jewel—Gunung Mulu National Park—before they continued their Sarawak journey to Kuching to explore the capital city’s various leisure offerings including visits to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and range of tourist accommodations.
STB marketing director for Europe and Oceania, Maurice Balang emphasised that the board always looks to build marketing partnerships between Sarawak travel agents and Australian partners towards enhancing Sarawak’s visibility as a premier ecotourism destination to the international market.
“Familiarisation tours play a very important role in providing our Australian partners and tour agents a direct and immersive understanding of Sarawak as a destination, enabling them to effectively promote and market this region, especially as we become more actively engaged in Responsible Tourism activities, practices and promotions.
“STB would like to extend our gratitude to the Sarawak tourism industry made up of tour agents, hotels, restaurants and tourism-related organisations like the Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF) whose support contributes to the success of our familiarisation tour programmes,” he said in a media release today.
Tour agents from Sarawak had the opportunity to engage and share their experiences and updates on their exceptional adventure and eco-tourism products with the Australian agents during an engagement session organised by STB at a local hotel here.
The event served as a testament to the enduring partnership between STB and Royal Brunei Airlines, reinforcing their commitment to providing unforgettable experiences for travellers and promoting Sarawak as the preferred destination in Malaysia. — DayakDaily
