“Sarawak will be hosting the most number of sports. Initially, it was supposed to be Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur. But Penang will take up some of the sports as well as Johor.

“Sarawak will be the State that will be have the most number of sports. We have agreed to 18 but that is not exhaustive yet,” Abdul Karim told reporters during a press conference in conjunction with the official flag-off of the D’Drift 2025 DayakDaily sixth annual expedition today.

He added that the selection of sports to be hosted in Sarawak is based on the availability of facilities as well as the agreement of the Olympic Council and SEA Game members.

Aside from that, Abdul Karim said he had discussed matters on how Sarawak will fit into the overall structure of the 2027 SEA Games.

He further emphasised that the ministry is currently actively preparing for the opening ceremony set to be held in Kuching. – DayakDaily
