Sarawak to host first Jombola competition this Oct 22

KUCHING, Oct 16: Sarawak will organise the first Jombola Sports Competition at Petra Jaya Multipurpose Hall on Oct 22.

Jombola combines badminton, squash, ping pong, and tennis games on a badminton court.

The event is co-organised by the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department and Jombola Association of Sarawak in conjunction with the Department’s 1,000 League Programmes under the Kuching Division.


The categories are Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

The top four winners for all three categories will be given cash prizes, medals, and certificates.

Registration for the competition is free and open to all Sarawakian of all ages. Interested individuals can register here.

The closing date for registration is Oct 19, 2022.

In a statement issued today, the organiser informed that participants do not need to bring equipment as they will be supplied during the competition.

The schedules of matches will be informed to the participants through their registered phone numbers on Oct 21.

Qualified judges will oversee all matches during the competition from 8am until 9pm on Oct 22.

For the record, Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah officiated the Jombola Sarawak on May 28 earlier this year.

Jombola Association of Sarawak, led by pro tem president Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, organised a Coaching and Technical Clinic on July 30 and July 31 and a Training of Trainers (TOT) Jombola course for nine selected coaches on Oct 8 and Oct 9.
