Sarawak to honour top talents at Anugerah Seni Sarawak 2025 this October 22

KUCHING, Sept 11: The prestigious Anugerah Seni Sarawak (ASS) 2025 will be held at the new Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex Banquet Hall on Oct 22, to celebrate and recognise individuals and organisations that have contributed to the growth of arts, culture, heritage and the creative industry in Sarawak.

Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the award serves as Sarawak’s highest platform to recognise the contributions of individuals or organisations in advancing and elevating the arts, culture, heritage and creative industry in Sarawak to the highest level, both nationally and internationally.

The award also honours local talents from various artistic fields including theatre, dance and music.

“Among the main categories to be presented are the Tokoh Seni Sarawak 2025 Award, Arts Media Supporter Award, Government & Corporate Agency Arts Supporter Award, Non-Governmental Organisation Arts Supporter Award, Opera Kenyalang Award (Theatre Arts), Sri Ritma Kenyalang Award (Music Arts), Kesuma Kenyalang Award (Dance Arts), and the Nilakandi Seni Sarawak Lifetime Achievement Award,” he told a press conference held at Baitul Makmur 2, Petra Jaya here today.

The nomination period, which ran from June 1 to July 1, attracted 92 submissions that were evaluated fairly and transparently by a panel of seasoned practitioners in the cultural and creative arts industry.

Abdul Karim also expressed appreciation to corporate sponsors including Andalusia Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd, Pepsi Malaysia, J&J Event Production, Kek Lapis Warisan Sdn Bhd, Nora Ventures Company, Ride & Style Enterprise and Lightcube Studio Sdn Bhd, for supporting the awards by contributing prizes and resources.

“This encouraging response shows that the arts and culture remain strong in Sarawak and close to the hearts of our people, regardless of race or background.

“I believe this award will serve as a platform for Sarawak’s cultural practitioners to be recognised alongside leading figures nationally and internationally,” he added. – DayakDaily
