Sarawak to give one-off RM700 incentive to registered private media practitioners

KUCHING, Dec 3: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today announced a one-off RM700 incentive to private media practitioners registered with six recognised media associations in the state as of December 1, 2025.

Announcing this during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Legislative Assembly (DUS) today, he described it as a gesture of appreciation for the media’s role in supporting Sarawak’s development.

“The contribution and professionalism shown by journalists and media workers had played a significant role in strengthening socio-economic progress and ensuring accurate information reaches the public.

The incentive is aimed at acknowledging the sacrifices, long working hours, and critical responsibilities carried by media practitioners, particularly those in the private sector,” he said.

Further details, including disbursement mechanisms, are expected to be released by the relevant authorities soon. DayakDaily
