Sarawak the prime focus of large conglomerates in Japan

KUCHING, Nov 26: Following Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s receipt of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, Sarawak has emerged as a prime focus for major Japanese conglomerates, particularly in the field of renewable energy, according to a Japanese consulting firm.

“We understand that Sarawak is growing its renewable energy in this region. Sarawak is leading, and Sarawak has the environment Japanese companies require.

“Policy stability is one of the key elements Japanese companies consider when deciding where to invest,” Japanese consulting group Yamada Consulting & Spire (Y&S) managing director for ASEAN and India markets, Go Sakano shared at a press conference of the Yamada International Renewable Energy Investment Forum 2025 here today.

“The Premier’s vision to make Sarawak a major exporter of green energy by 2035 presents an exciting opportunity for many of the delegates who are present in this Forum,” he said in a statement.

The Forum drew representatives from leading companies, including Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Toho Gas, Sojitz Corporation, Tokyo Power Technology Co Ltd, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Dans Energy (India).

The forum also featured a keynote address by the Premier, panel discussions, and networking sessions with leading figures from the Sarawak state government, international investment firms, and technology developers. – DayakDaily
