KUCHING, July 21: The Sarawak State Library (PNS) is inviting all Sarawakians to join its two-week online celebration of Sarawak Independence Day via its Facebook and YouTube channels for free.
PNS said this year’s celebration with the theme “Sarawak Gemilang Until Semua” will feature a series of events such as forums, exhibitions, book talks, colouring contests and sharing sessions on Sarawak’s history from July 19 to 30.
Tomorrow (July 22), there will be a “Sarawak Day Forum” starting 2.30pm to be streamed on Facebook (pustaka.sarawak) and YouTube (pustakasarawak) with invited panel members sharing their views and experiences.
Moderated by Japri Bujang Masli from PNS, the floor will be open to lecturers from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Swinburne University of Technology, and Universiti Teknologi Mara, Sarawak campus.
PNS, in a statement today, also pointed out its highlight event on Friday (July 23), which is “Forum Sarawakiana: Rosli Dhobi, Semangat Yang Tidak Mati”.
Other programmes lined up include the ‘Book Review: Sarawakiana Collection’ (July 23), ‘Book Talk: Development of Architecture in Sarawak’ (July 24), ‘Poster Pantun Semangat Merdeka’ (July 24), ‘Sarawak Independence Memory Sharing: Abg Mohamad Abg Jess’ (July 27) and ‘Poster Pantun Sarawak Dalam Sejarah’ (July 30).
Meanwhile, there are slots scheduled throughout the entire two weeks under “Sejarah Sarawakku Sayang” to share information on various historical events that took place in Sarawak during the Brooke dynasty. — DayakDaily
