Sarawak, Singapore eye strategic collaboration in energy, science, tech

KUCHING, Aug 5: Sarawak and Singapore are seeking to collaborate in the fields of energy, science, and technology.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, this followed a courtesy visit to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg by a delegation from the Singapore government led by its Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science and Technology, Dr Tan See Leng.

The courtesy call, which took place at the Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here today, also aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and explore strategic cooperation opportunities between Sarawak and Singapore.

The Singapore delegation also included Eugene Toh, assistant chief executive of the Energy Market Authority (EMA); Ong Teng Koon, chief executive officer of Singapore Energy Interconnections (5GE); Li Xiaoyao, deputy director of the Ministry of Trade and Industry; Melissa Lee, counsellor (economic) at the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur; Serena Chan, senior assistant director at the Ministry of Trade and Industry; Joycelyn Seow Hui Lin from Singapore Energy Interconnections (5GE); and Kannan Arunachalam, lead analyst at the Energy Market Authority.

Also present was Fenny Nuli, director of the Sarawak Regional Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. — DayakDaily
