KUCHING, March 26: Sarawak is strengthening its presence on the international maritime stage, showcasing its growing capabilities in shipbuilding, marine engineering, and offshore services at the Asia Pacific Maritime (APM) 2026 in Singapore.
The State’s participation highlights its ambition to expand globally and positions Sarawak as a rising player in Asia’s maritime sector.
The Sarawak Pavilion, jointly led by the Sarawak Association of Maritime Industries (SAMIN) and Sarawak Trade & Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS), features a range of Sarawak-based companies demonstrating expertise in vessel design and construction, offshore support services, and innovative marine solutions.
The pavilion was officially launched by Deputy Minister for Public Health and Housing Datuk Michael Tiang, alongside permanent secretary to the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak Datu Lester Matthew, marking a significant milestone in Sarawak’s international maritime engagement.
Held from March 25 to 27 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, APM 2026 brings together global maritime industry leaders, offering Sarawak a platform to strengthen international partnerships and attract investment.
SAMIN president Ling Tiu Khing emphasised that APM provides an important stage for Sarawak to showcase its strengths, connect with global industry players, and increase visibility of the State’s maritime industry.
“With the rising demand for newbuild vessels internationally, Sarawak’s shipbuilding industry has been steadily enhancing its capabilities by adopting advanced technologies, upskilling its workforce, and upgrading shipyard facilities. Our shipbuilders are fully committed to meeting international standards and market requirements,” he said in a media release today.
Beyond business growth, Sarawak’s participation aligns with broader economic goals, including job creation in technical and industrial sectors.
In line with global trends, the State is also prioritising sustainability, focusing on greener technologies, operational efficiency, and innovative maritime solutions.
SAMIN continues to play a key role in advancing Sarawak’s maritime industry by fostering collaboration among stakeholders and promoting the State internationally.
APM 2026 is expected to attract over 20,000 industry professionals, 750 global exhibitors, and more than 150 expert speakers, reinforcing its reputation as a premier platform for maritime business, innovation, and networking. — DayakDaily
