KUCHING, Oct 28: Former Malaysian Tourism Minister Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir opines that Sarawak should be the number one tourism state in the whole of Malaysia.

He said this in an interview during the ‘Jom Ke Sarawak B2B’ event in Kuala Lumpur as recorded in a TikTok video by @sukasarawak.

“I’m very happy that you are having this Sarawak promotion, because as I was telling everybody there is no reason why Sarawak shouldn’t be the number one tourism state in the whole of Malaysia.

“You have so much to show to the world; the culture, the talent of Sarawak and so on,” he said.

He also praised the leadership of Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah in steering Sarawak tourism to great heights.

“You have a first class Tourism Minister Datuk (Abdul) Karim. He is dynamic with a lot of ideas and the courage to make good decisions and implement them.

“So I’m sure Sarawak should do very well in tourism. Tourism should be one of the economic components for Sarawak,” he added.

Having worked with Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg when the latter was a Tourism Minister, Abdul Kadir believes that with Abang Johari’s leadership, he can give all out support to promote Sarawak tourism.

Responding to this, Abdul Karim on his Facebook post, thanked Abdul Kadir for his views on the rapid development of the tourism sector in Sarawak. — DayakDaily
