KUCHING, Oct 17: Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases fall to 730 today after rebounding past the 1,000 figure in the last four days, while Covid-19 cases in Kuching dipped below the 200 mark, according to a report from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).
SDMC said 2.88 per cent or 21 cases out of the 730 Covid-19 cases reported were in Category 3, 4 and 5 while the balance of 97.12 per cent or 709 cases were in Category 1 and 2.
With extra 730 Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak, the cumulative number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the State has increased to 231,530.
SDMC said there were four Covid-19 patients being intubated and 11 Covid-19 patients required breathing support.
There were 72.47 per cent or 529 Covid-19 patients having mild symptoms and 180 asymptomatic Covid-19 patients reported.
On another note, 36 districts out of 40 districts throughout the State registered new Covid-19 cases.
Kuching is the sole district in Sarawak which reported triple digit figure with 199 cases.
Districts which reported double-digit cases were Sibu with 98 cases, Miri (91), Lawas (62), Bintulu (42), Limbang (37), Subis (22), Mukah (21), Kanowit (21), Betong (14), Sarikei (13), Serian (12), Saratok (11) and Bau (10).
Areas which recorded single digit case include Marudi with eight cases, Pusa (7), Dalat (7), Beluru (6), Kapit (5), Samarahan (5), Pakan (5), Meradong (5), Julau (4), Lundu (3), Selangau (3), Tatau (3), Simunjan (2), Kabong (2), Belaga (2), Matu (2), Bukit Mabong (2), Tebedu (2), Song (1), Asajaya (1), Telang Usan (1) and Sebauh (1).
Four districts namely Sri Aman, Daro, Tanjung Manis and Lubok Antu recorded zero Covid-19 cases.
On the other hand, 13 Covid-19 related deaths are reported in Sarawak, bringing the death toll due to Covid-19 in the State to 1,099.
SDMC said there are no new cluster of Covid-19 identified in Sarawak while three active clusters ended.
They are Nansang Wak Cluster, Sungai Buloh Cluster both in Pakan and Jalan Taman Raja Cluster in Miri.
With zero new cluster and three active clusters ended, there are 54 active clusters of Covid-19 in the State.
Out of the 54 active clusters, three clusters reported 10 new Covid-19 cases.
The 10 new cases were derived from Air Awat-Awat Cluster with seven Covid-19 cases, Tembok Limbang Cluster (2) and Menuang Cluster (1).
In the meantime, 51 active clusters reported zero Covid-19 cases. — DayakDaily
