Sarawak sees 1,413 new Covid-19 cases today, 1.84 per cent in Category 3 to 5

KUCHING, Oct 7: Sarawak recorded 1,413 new Covid-19 cases with 1.84 per cent or 26 Covid-19 patients classified as being in Category 3, 4 and 5, according to a report by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today.

SDMC said out of the 26 Covid-19 patients, 10 patients required breathing support while nine patients were intubated.

The committee added that 98.16 per cent or 1,387 new Covid-19 cases were classified as Category 1 and 2 patients.

On the breakdown of cases, 22.08 per cent or 312 cases were asymptomatic while 76.08 per cent or 1,075 cases had mild symptoms of Covid-19.

On the distribution of new cases in districts throughout the State, 37 out of 40 districts registered new Covid-19 cases.

Kuching remains the district with the highest number of new infections, with 387 cases reported.

This was followed by Miri with 193 cases and Sibu with 131 cases.

Districts which reported double digits cases were Bau (85), Pusa (77), Serian (58), Limbang (51), Betong (50), Mukah (33), Sarikei (32), Kanowit (30), Samarahan (27), Sri Aman (22), Daro (14), Saratok (10) and Asajaya (10).

Areas that witnessed single digit case include Kapit (9), Simunjan (9), Lundu (8), Lubok Antu (8), Meradong (8), Pakan (8), Tanjung Manis (7), Julau (7), Belaga (6), Subis (6), Selangau (6), Tebedu (5), Kabong (5), Telang Usan (4), Song (3), Dalat (3), Tatau (2), Beluru (2), Matu (2) and Bukit Mabong (1).

The additional 1,413 Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak today has increased the cumulative total of confirmed cases in the State to 221,042.

At the same time, there were 20 deaths related to Covid-19 reported, with no new active clusters today. — DayakDaily
