KUCHING, April 2: Sarawak is set to welcome a new hub for innovation and learning with the opening of the Sarawak Science Centre (SSIcEX) on July 29, 2026.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the centre is ready to operate and will be officiated by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“I encourage you to visit the Science Centre, not only for your own curiosity, but with your families and friends—especially the youth—so they can experience the excitement of science and see how it can benefit our communities,” he said at the Sarawak Science, Health, Innovation & Engineering (SHInE) International Conference 2026 press conference at Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (TROPI) in Kota Samarahan today.
Funded under the Sarawak Budget 2025 and announced by Sarawak Premier, the centre sits on a 10.8-acre site along Jalan Stadium in Petra Jaya.
Aiming to inspire youths, the centre combines interactive exhibitions with outreach programmes to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and innovation.
It is expected to become a key education destination, welcoming students, teachers, and families from across Sarawak. — DayakDaily
