KUCHING, Apr 23: Don’t be surprised if you find a packet of masks in your letter box.

These are the masks which the Sarawak government had promised in early March to give to residents of Sarawak.

“Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari in early March had announced that free masks will be given to the public.

“All households should receive some six pieces for the red zones, four pieces for yellow and green zones,” State Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik told DayakDaily.

Ik Pahon, who is also Deputy State Secretary, said distribution of the free masks from the Sarawak government started two days ago.

Today, a reader from Matang area who wished to remain anonymous told Dayakdaily that he had found a packet of masks in his letter box early in the morning.

“Its quite a gift. Though it is not much but it shows government’s concern for us who live in the red zone area,” he said.

He said he found the masks nicely sealed in a packet with a brochure that says “Sumbangan Dari Kerajaan Negeri Sarawak: Untuk Membantu Mengurangkan Risiko Jangkitan Covid-19”.

The brochure also contains useful information such as how to keep personal hygiene and the proper usage of the masks.—DayakDaily

Residents in red zones may find a packet such as this from the Sarawak government.
