Sarawak reports 23 new Covid-19 cases in 7 districts

KUCHING, Jan 12: Sarawak has recorded 23 new Covid-19 cases in seven districts today, pushing the overall State tally so far to 252,550.

With no Covid-19 fatalities reported, the death toll maintained at 1,619.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) latest updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, Samarahan and Betong logged six cases each.

Kuching and Limbang reported four cases each, while Sibu, Miri and Mukah reported one case respectively.

Of the new cases, there are eight under Category 1 with no symptoms and 15 under Category 2 with mild symptoms.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the police had issued 5 compounds in Kuching and Miri in the past 24 hours for various violations of standard operating procedures (SOP).

Two compounds were issued each for failure to scan QR Code on MySejahtera or recording attendance prior to entering a premises, not wearing face masks and premises operating beyond the business hours allowed. — DayakDaily
