Sarawak Regatta 2024 returns Nov 1–3, sale of entry forms begins Sept 9

KUCHING, Sept 3: The much-awaited Sarawak Regatta 2024 is set to take place from November 1–3, with the sale of entry forms to begin on Sept;9.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the entry forms may be purchased from the Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) headquarters at Electra House along Power Street in Kuching, with the closing date for registration on Oct 7 by 12pm.

Later on Oct 22, there will be a briefing for team managers and a ballot draw at 9am at Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching.

The regatta will feature two categories: Local for Malaysian citizens and Open to allow non-Malaysian paddlers to participate.

The Local category will have seven events:

  • Mixed Bidar 10-crew (8 male paddlers, 2 female paddlers)
  • Men’s Bidar 15-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 20-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 25-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 30-crew (Raya Sungai TYT Cup)
  • Men’s Bidar 20-crew (Inter-Division)
  • Men’s Kenyalang 20-crew (Ministries/Agencies/GLC/Private)

As for the Open category, there will be nine events:

  • Men’s Bidar 15-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 20-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 25-crew
  • Men’s Bidar 30-crew (Borneo International Cup)
  • Men’s Kenyalang 20-crew (VIP)
  • Mixed Kenyalang 20-crew (15 male paddlers, 5 female paddlers)
  • Men’s Kenyalang 20-crew (IPTA/IPTS)
  • Mixed Kenyalang 20-crew (15 male paddlers, 5 female paddlers; IPTA/IPTS)
  • Men’s Bidar 30-crew (3km International Marathon)

“All events under the Local category and involving IPTA/IPTS (public universities and private institutions/universities) require participants to provide their full names including their IC numbers and student or staff ID.”

Additionally, the documents should then be verified by the team manager and presented to the secretariat by Oct 22 at the latest.

“The participation fee for the bidar boat is RM10 per paddler. For events involving kenyalang boats, it is RM15 per paddler.

“Each event entry must use an official entry form at the cost of RM10 each.
