Sarawak records income of RM7.66 billion in first half of 2024

KUCHING, Aug 5: As of June this year, Sarawak has recorded an income of RM7.66 billion, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

In a TVS news report today, Uggah, who is also Sarawak’s Second Minister of Finance, said the numbers are encouraging, proving the effectiveness of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership.

“There are still six months left, but (this income) has not yet come from the aggregator, a new source of income for Sarawak,” he said in his speech at a tea ceremony organised by the Office of Premier of Sarawak (OPS) today in conjunction with the Premier’s birthday (Aug 4).

According to Uggah, Malaysia could depend on Sarawak to become a high-income country by 2030.

In addition to economic success, he praised Abang Johari as a leader who emphasises the importance of harmony between the different races and religions in Sarawak.

“The leadership of the Premier of Sarawak also made Sarawak remain the most harmonious region in Malaysia,” he said.
