Sarawak records 137 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths today

KUCHING, Nov 27: Only Kuching, Miri and Lawas districts registered double-digit Covid-19 cases today as Sarawak logged a total of 137 total cases – a steady decline for the fifth consecutive day.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the total cases, 135 are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).


Meanwhile, the remaining two cases are classified as being in the critical stage involving one Category 3 patient who developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own, and one Category 5 patient who requires a ventilator to breathe.

By district, Kuching took the lead in terms of numbers with 45 cases, followed by Miri (16), Lawas (14), Sibu (9), Limbang (8), Serian (7), Samarahan (6), Bintulu (5), Lundu (5), Bau (4), Song (3), Mukah (3), Kapit (3), Daro (2), Dalat (2) while Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Matu, Julau and Sebauh recorded one case each.

Twenty other districts comprising Betong, Sarikei, Kabong, Belaga, Kanowit, Tebedu, Pusa, Tatau, Beluru, Subis, Pakan, Simunjan, Selangau, Saratok, Meradong, Telang Usan, Tanjung Manis, Asajaya, Lubok Antu and Marudi did not record any new cases today.

On Covid-19 deaths, two new fatalities were reported today, bringing the death toll in Sarawak to 1,580.

The first case involved a 78-year-old man who suffered from Parkinson’s disease who passed away on Nov 24.

The second case involved a 45-year-old woman with nursing needs who passed away on Nov 26, 2021. Both cases were from Kuching.

At the same time, SDMC said there were no new clusters declared in Sarawak today, bringing the number of active clusters in the State to four.

They are the Putai 2 Cluster in Bukit Mabong, Ensurai Cluster in Limbang as well as Jalan Sultan Tengah Rampangi Cluster and Jalan Ong Tiang Swee Cluster in Kuching. — DayakDaily
