KUCHING, April 28: The Sarawak government continues to enhance the welfare of care institution personnel by providing a special incentive of RM200 per month for civil servants directly involved in the care of the elderly and persons with disabilities.

According to TVS, the initiative covers facilities such as Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching and is viewed as a meaningful recognition of the dedication shown by staff in safeguarding the well-being of residents.

Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said the incentive, implemented since 2024, serves not only as an appreciation measure but also as a catalyst to further improve service standards in care institutions.

“Such provision also helps to standardise facilities between the federal government and the Sarawak government, ensuring a fairer and more balanced approach for all staff,” she said during a ceremony to present caregiver incentive assistance for elderly care to civil servants at Rumah Seri Kenangan Kuching today.

She also noted that Sarawak currently operates two Rumah Seri Kenangan facilities, located in Kuching and Sibu.

“However, the Sibu facility is currently undergoing renovation works, resulting in the temporary relocation of all residents to Kuching.

“At present, a total of 86 male and female residents are accommodated at the centre, with the annual allocation for this incentive estimated at RM69,600,” she added. — DayakDaily
