KUCHING, April 23: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today witnessed the presentation of a certificate from the Malaysia Book of Records to Wong Su Chung at his office in Kompleks Satria Pertiwi here.
According to a Facebook post by Sarawakku, Wong was recognised as the first Malaysian to complete the Antarctica Dual Expedition, a feat that saw him successfully summit Mount Vinson and ski 111 kilometres to the final degree of the South Pole.
At 60, he was also the only member of his expedition team to complete both challenges.
The achievement adds to Wong’s growing list of milestones, having earlier become the first Sarawakian to reach the summit of Mount Everest in May 2024.
Also present at the ceremony was Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (Tourism) Sarawak Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew. — DayakDaily
