Sarawak Premier to give green energy talk in Singapore next week

KUCHING, Oct 21: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will be in Singapore next week to give a talk on green energy.

He said he had received an invitation by the Singapore government to be a presenter at the 15th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) at Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore from Oct 25 to Oct 28.

“Insya-Allah, next week I will be in Singapore as a guest of the Singapore government to speak on green energy in the SIEW with global participation (so) not bad lah Sarawak (sic).

“And this is all because I want to add value to the strength of energy that we have and when we add value to our resources, meaning revenue stream (into) Sarawak.

“And this is what we are doing and I hope that Sarawak will achieve what we have targeted (in line with) Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS2030),” he said when officiating at the Sarawak Civil Service Innovation Convention Awards (SCSICA) 2022 held at Raia Hotel and Convention Centre here earlier tonight.

On May 9 this year, Abang Johari went to Rotterdam, the Netherlands for the World Hydrogen 2022 Summit and Exhibition where he had highlighted Sarawak’s readiness for the hydrogen economy at the start of the 3-day summit.

In September, he had also received an invitation to South Korea to meet and strengthen cooperation with industry leaders and investors on the development of hydrogen economy in Sarawak.

Last month, Abang Johari led a delegation comprising senior government officials to Tokyo, Japan to take part in a hydrogen forum organised by the Tokyo Metropolitan government.

Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar were among those present. — DayakDaily
