KUCHING, Dec 11: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg began his official working visit to China by taking part in a dialogue session with the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government at the Xikang Guesthouse in Nanjing today.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the Premier and the Sarawak were welcomed by Vice Governor Zhao Jianjun, who attended on behalf of Governor Liu Xiaotao.
Accompanying the Premier during the session were the Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Bhd and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad – PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, PETROS chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo, PETROS group chief executive officer Dato Janin Girie, as well as other members of the PETROS delegation.
The dialogue followed the earlier signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between PETROS and China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI).
The partnership is intended to drive the development of the Kuching Low Carbon Hub (KLCH), a key initiative under the Sarawak Gas Masterplan aimed at stimulating sustainable, high-value industrial growth across the State.
The KLCH represents a major step forward in positioning Sarawak’s low-carbon policy as a new economic driver for its people. It is envisioned as a next-generation industrial park integrating high-tech manufacturing, clean energy, data-centric operations, and a comprehensive low-carbon industrial ecosystem. – DayakDaily
