KUCHING, Sept 24: The Sarawak Police, through its Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), disposed of seized drugs and poisons worth RM1,471,837.24 at the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park operated by Trienekens Sarawak Sdn Bhd on Tuesday (Sept 23).
The disposal exercise, witnessed by Sarawak NCID chief ACP Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah, was carried out using the thermal treatment method (incinerator) in accordance with Sections 406A and 407 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
In a statement, Sarawak Police Commissioner Dato Mancha Ata said the items destroyed were linked to 11,004 cases recorded between 2017 and 2024 across 23 districts in Sarawak, which had completed investigation and court proceedings under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Poisons Act 1952.
Among the substances destroyed were 9.74kg of syabu (methamphetamine), 5.47kg of ecstasy powder, 1.15kg of cannabis,1.19kg of Erimin 5 pills, 7.44kg of Nospan pills, 267.70 grammes of ketamine, 231.01 grammes of ecstasy pills, 2 litres of ketum juice, and 7,852 bottles of urine samples.
Mancha reaffirmed the force’s commitment to eradicating drugs, describing them as the nation’s “number one enemy”.
“The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department is fully committed to combating drugs in order to protect current and future generations,” he stressed.
