Sarawak PKR will not give up Ba’Kelalan seat

Joshua Jabeng

KUCHING, Jan 13: Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will not give way to Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) in the Ba’kelalan seat which is presently held by Baru Bian, for the upcoming Sarawak election.

In a press statement, Sarawak PKR secretary Joshua Jabeng stated clearly that the party will not concede to PSB but will contest the seat.

Joshua also clarified that Baru was never sacked but left the party voluntarily and the party will not condone such conduct.

He said Baru who joined Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) after leaving Sarawak PKR has his ā€œabsolute rightā€ to utter anything but Sarawak PKR needed to state the facts to avoid confusion among members and supporters.

ā€œFor Baru Bian to claim of being sacked by the party is untrue. He voluntarily left PKR on his own accord during the Sheraton move. The widely circulated photograph clearly shows that he was among the 11 former MPs of Parti Keadilan behind (Datuk Seri Mohd) Azmin Ali who participated to bring down the legally elected PH (Pakatan Harapan) government in February 2020.

ā€œIn view of this, Keadilan Sarawak no longer views Baru Bian to be a long term partner that can enhance the goal of PH Sarawakā€™s to defeat GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak).

ā€œTherefore, Keadilan will not concede the seat of Ba’Kelalan to PSB. We will contest all the state or parliamentary seats that were previously won by PKR. Decisive actions are necessary so that such act of betrayal by leaders whom we have placed our hope and trust in, will not be repeated,ā€ said Joshua.

He pointed out that the matter concerning Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, however was different.

Joshua said See was sacked for having found to have questionable loyalty to the party subsequent to his press statement about intending to form a new party or to join another local party which was eventually PSB.

ā€œNeedless to say in all sincerity he (See) could have made an appeal which is his absolute right but he did not,ā€ said Joshua. ā€” DayakDaily
