The Sarawak delegation, led by Awang Tengah, is currently in Kuantan in conjunction with the Sarawak Entrepreneurs Showcase 2026 held at Kuantan City Mall, a programme aimed at promoting Sarawak-made products and expanding market access for entrepreneurs to Peninsular Malaysia.

Beyond direct air connectivity, both sides also discussed broader cooperation in strengthening logistics infrastructure between Pahang and Sarawak, which is expected to enhance trade flows and improve business mobility between East and West Malaysia.

The discussions also highlighted the potential for closer collaboration between ports in both states, particularly in expanding trade in the halal industry and developing cruise tourism activities, which could further boost regional economic integration.

Another area of focus was the creative industry, with both parties recognising the strong cultural and commercial potential of songket, which could be further developed and promoted to wider markets.

Awang Tengah said Sarawak remains committed to expanding strategic partnerships with other states in Malaysia, particularly in trade, tourism, investment and the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

He also expressed appreciation to the Pahang government for its warm reception and for its continued commitment in strengthening long-standing ties between the two states.

The visit reflects ongoing efforts to deepen inter-state cooperation and reinforce domestic economic linkages within the Federation of Malaysia through strategic connectivity initiatives.

Awang Tengah was accompanied by Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED) advisor Dato Sri Naroden Majais and MINTRED permanent secretary Datu Lester Matthew.

Also present at the meeting were Pahang State Executive Council member Dato’ Mohamad Nizar Mohamad Najib and Pahang State Secretary Dato’ Sri Nazri Abu Bakar. — DayakDaily
