KUCHING, Sept 4: Sarawak is open to partnerships for green initiatives to shape its green economic landscape, says its Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He assured Sarawak that it would remain a stable State, focusing on achieving its aim to be a sustainable and advanced economy by setting the right policies and regulations.
“Sarawak stands as a beacon of stability, directing its vision towards nurturing a sustainable future.
“Our commitment leans towards fostering a green economy. As we steer our path towards sustainability, we have prioritised improving the ease of eco-friendly business initiatives. This involves crafting the right policies and regulations tailored for a green economy,” said Abang Johari during the opening of the summit with the theme “Building a Better Future through Green Growth” held at the Borneo Convention Centre here today.
He cited Sarawak’s 10-year development blueprint Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which has outlined numerous opportunities centred around sustainable growth as evidence of Sarawak’s determination and resoluteness.
“Investors, environmentalists, and financial institutions are invited to collaborate in transforming Sarawak’s green economic landscape.
“The shift towards a sustainable economy in Sarawak will undoubtedly demand profound investment and innovative financing solutions.
“We are open to partnerships focusing on the greener supply and value chains across all sectors. Rest assured, our policies are fortified to uphold integrity, transparency, and governance—all aligned impeccably with ESG principles and the larger goal of sustainability,” said Abang Johari.
Over 300 participants converged in the 2023 World Green & Sustainability Summit organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI).
With the theme ‘Building a Better Future Through Green Growth’, the Summit aims to galvanise businesses, including SMEs, to support and embrace the circular economy and scale up ESG Goals, in particular the environment and governance goals.
The Summit covered topics in energy transition and urban development such as Green Energy, Green Technology – New Challenges, New Breakthrough and New Opportunities in Energy Transition – Renewable and Hydrogen Energy, and Green Cities and Green Mobility – Advancing Sustainable Cities, Mobile Communities, Green Properties and Green Infrastructure. — DayakDaily
