“We have the Sarawak Youth Creative Industry Fund to assist those in the creative arts and crafts industry, as well as a ‘Dana Mudahcara’ for those who want to conduct studies and research in this industry,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Karim said the involvement of youth plays an important role in ensuring the sustainability of local cultural arts in the future.

He said the scope of involvement also needs to be expanded across all ethnic groups in Sarawak for arts and crafts to be elevated to the global level.

He also said that when it comes to developing multi-ethnic arts and crafts in Sarawak, his ministry is not limiting it to just one or two communities.

“It’s open, whatever we can develop, we will develop, because it crosses racial and cultural boundaries, just like how we developed the Borneo Cultures Museum. If you visit the museum, it reflects Sarawak and all the cultures from all ethnicities in this region,” he added. — DayakDaily
