KUCHING, Nov 28: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) will invite Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Sarawak Integrity and Ombudsman Unit to observe its upcoming audit by National Audit Department Malaysia.
According to the press release by Sarawak Metro today, National Audit Department Malaysia informed Sarawak Metro on Nov 7 of its intention to conduct an audit.
“The audit, which coincides with the scheduled audit on Sarawak Metro’s parent company Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), is expected to take place in mid-December 2024,” read the statement.
In preparation for the audit, Sarawak Metro is actively working towards achieving the Anti Bribery Management System (ABMS) ISO 37001:2016 certification, having recently concluded the Stage 2 Certification Audit for ABMS.
Sarawak Metro, a wholly owned subsidiary of SEDC, has been tasked by the Sarawak government to modernise public transport under the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.
Implemented in phases, the project’s Phase 1 includes the development of three major transit lines: the Blue Line (Rembus to Hikmah Exchange), the Red Line (Kuching Sentral to Pending), and the Green Line (Pending to Damai).
The construction of the first package for the Blue Line is projected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2025, with the entire network scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. — DayakDaily
