KUCHING, Nov 2: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) is organising a webinar on its Socio-Economic Enhancement Development (SEED) programme on Nov 5, 2021.

Open to local industry players, institutions of higher learning, trade organisations and government agencies, the free webinar will be held via an online platform starting 3pm.

“We will be sharing the information about our SEED programme and how it could be used as a platform in developing the skills and know-how of local industry and talents with regards to the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project specifically and metro transit industry as a whole,” said Sarawak Metro’s chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa.

The SEED programme was initiated by Sarawak Metro to add value to the procurement process for the KUTS project.

Mazli said the initiative to introduce the SEED programme, is in support of the State government’s agenda towards becoming a high income and developed region by 2030.

“Therefore, I encourage local industry players, government agencies and institutions of higher learning to register for the webinar session,” he added.

Apart from discussing about the SEED programme, the webinar session will also include a presentation from Dato Zailani Safari, a subject matter expert who has been involved for many years in managing the Offset or Industrial Collaboration Programme (ICP).

He will be sharing on his experience in managing the ICP and some of the success stories from the programme.

Sarawak Metro is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) and has been entrusted to develop the KUTS project, which aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Greater Kuching.

Apart from reducing traffic congestion, the KUTS project also aims to modernise and decarbonise the public transport system in the State.
