KUCHING, Oct 13: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd continues to uphold its commitment to promoting a strong road safety culture with its most recent Road Safety Awareness Campaign.
Organised in collaboration with its contractor for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Blue Line Package 2—Perbena Emas and China Road & Bridge Corporation Joint Venture (PECRJV)—today’s Road Safety Awareness Campaign was held along the Jalan Simpang Tiga area here.
The campaign aimed to further raise awareness on road safety among both road users and construction personnel, especially along the Blue Line Package 2 construction sites.
The event once again received strong support from the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Sarawak, Kuching Resident Office, Royal Malaysia Police Sarawak Contingent (IPK Sarawak), and Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching).
Reinforcing the importance of road safety, the campaign aimed to remind the public and the construction workers to strictly adhere to traffic rules, safety signage, and site guidelines, especially in active construction areas.

In a statement, Sarawak Metro’s chief executive officer, Ts. Mazli Mustaffa said that road safety remains a continuous priority as construction activities intensify in Kota Samarahan and Kuching city.
“Road safety has always been at the core of our operations as we are building our alignment along existing roads. And as we continue to implement the KUTS project across Kuching and Kota Samarahan, we are enhancing our efforts to remind the public and our workers on site to stay alert and follow all safety management measures.
“We are grateful for the close cooperation and commitment from our contractors and the various agencies in supporting our shared goal of cultivating a responsible road safety culture,” he said.
During the campaign, road users received goodie bags containing safety flyers and emergency tripods, while motorcyclists received reflective vests and helmets.
This initiative forms part of Sarawak Metro’s ongoing strategy to enhance safety for road users, pedestrians, and construction workers; ensuring that the implementation of the KUTS project proceeds with the highest regard for safety. — DayakDaily
