Sarawak Metro awards RM122 million feeder bus contract to joint venture company

KUCHING, Oct 25: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) has awarded a contract valued at RM122,441,222 for the supply of hydrogen-powered feeder buses to a joint venture company comprising SKS Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd and Sun Credit Sdn Bhd.

According to Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) in a statement today, under this contract, the joint venture (JV) company is entrusted to undertake works of designing, engineering, procurement, manufacture, supply, installation, delivering, testing, commissioning and handover of 55 single-deck hydrogen fuel cell feeder buses.

“The contract, including options, will be executed over a period of 43 months,” it said.

The contract was signed by Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa on behalf of Sarawak Metro, while the joint venture companies were represented by the director of SKS Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd Muhamad Zaidi Toha and chairman of Sun Credit Sdn Bhd Sempurai Petrus Ngelai, witnessed by CEO of SKS Coachbuilders Sdn Bhd Dato’ Roy Soo Kum Kin, and director of Sun Credit Sdn Bhd Timothy Lim Teng.

Speaking after the ceremony, Mazli said the award of the contract represents a significant step towards building a more reliable, convenient and eco-friendly public transport network in Kuching.
