Sarawak logs 84 cases, Kuching and Sibu report double-digit cases

KUCHING, Feb 7: Kuching and Sibu continue to report double-digit cases today as Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 84.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, Kuching reported 45 cases, followed by Sibu with 20 cases, Miri (9), Serian (4), Song (3), Bintulu (2), and Samarahan (1).

This brings the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 253,087.


Of the new cases reported, one case was classified under Category 3 with lung infection, 18 under Category 2 (mild symptoms), and 65 cases under Category 1 (asymptomatic).

As of today, no new deaths or clusters were reported in the State.

Meanwhile, 10 individuals were compounded by the police in Kuching for failing to scan the MySejahtera QR code or manually register their attendance when entering a premises, including failure to wear face masks.

Apart from that, another 16 individuals were also compounded by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Kuching (5), Kapit (1), and Bintulu (10) for the same offenses. ā€” DayakDaily
