KUCHING, Sept 4: Sarawak is keen on exploring collaboration with the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) in responsible tourism.
The matter was discussed during a meeting between the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and an ACC representative held at the Malaysia Embassy office based in Beijing, China, today.
Among other matters discussed involved leading eco-tourism, business events, familiarisation trip programmes, capacity building, air connectivity, and joint promotion campaigns.
The meeting concluded with ACC looking forward to enhancing cooperation to develop tourism between the two regions, especially in capacity-building fields that can benefit Malaysia, especially Sarawak and China.
Also present at the meeting were Deputy Minister for Tourism Sarawak Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew.
Meanwhile, at the China International Fair Trade in Service (CIFTIS) 2023 today, Abdul Karim was also interviewed by China Daily News at the Sarawak Pavilion at the China National Convention Centre.
In the interview, Abdul Karim highlighted Sarawak as a tourist destination by introducing Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food, and Festivals (CANFF) and the Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H) Programme.
He also mentioned that Sarawak is recognised as among the Unesco heritage sites, namely the Gunung Mulu National Park in Miri and Kuching City as the Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy, including the iconic Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF). — DayakDaily
