KUCHING, Aug 21: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) has seized 28 luxury vehicles of various models during a month-long statewide operation against traffic law violations.

In a TVS news report, JPJ said the seizures were made after the vehicles were found to have committed multiple offences, particularly expired road tax and lack of valid insurance coverage, both of which are clear breaches of the Road Transport Act 1987.

“JPJ Sarawak believes that many more luxury vehicles in Sarawak have yet to renew their road tax and insurance but are still freely plying the roads,” the department said in a statement today.

The department reminded all vehicle owners, particularly luxury car owners, to renew their road tax and insurance before using their vehicles.

“JPJ Sarawak will not compromise on any violations of the law that endanger the safety of other road users,” it added. — DayakDaily
