Sarawak, Italy poised to deepen collaboration in green energy, trade, education

KUCHING, March 3: Collaboration between Sarawak and Italy is set to be further enhanced, opening up broader opportunities for development and mutual benefits, as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties.

Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar expressed optimism that closer cooperation would pave the way for expanded partnerships in key sectors during a courtesy call by Italy’s Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Raffaele Langella, at Kasuma Resort today.

According to the Information Department Sarawak, the approximately one-hour meeting marked the ambassador’s official visit in conjunction with his recent appointment and served as a platform to reinforce relations between Italy and Sarawak.

During the discussion, both parties exchanged views on potential collaboration in green energy, trade, higher education and biodiversity conservation, including environmental sustainability initiatives.

The dialogue reflected Sarawak’s growing international outreach, particularly in advancing its renewable energy agenda and sustainable development goals.

Wan Junaidi conveyed hope that stronger ties with Italy would translate into tangible investments, knowledge exchange and technology transfer, especially in areas aligned with Sarawak’s development priorities.
