Sarawak issues statewide mandatory rabies vaccination order for dogs, effective Jan 20

KUCHING, Jan 20: All dogs in Sarawak must now be vaccinated against rabies following a new order issued under the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance, 1999, effective today.

Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sarawak Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom has issued the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Order, made under Section 40(1) of the ordinance.

“All dogs in the state of Sarawak (in the infected areas and also the non-affected areas) be subjected to anti-rabies vaccination.

“This Anti-Rabies Vaccination Order shall remain in force until such time that the Order is revoked,” said in the order.

The effort reflects the State government’s continued focus on preventing rabies and safeguarding the health of residents. — DayakDaily
