BEKENU, Aug 14: The Sarawak government has allocated RM6.6 million to construct a replica of Tusan Beach’s iconic ‘drinking horse’ rock formation, which collapsed in 2020.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Sarawak Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Datuk Rosey Yunus announced that an additional RM4.945 million has been approved to address temporary erosion and landslides that frequently affect the area.

“The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has temporary covered the erosion with plastic,” she said when speaking at the opening ceremony of a Tusan Beach tourism facility here recently.

Regarding the new facility, which has recently opened to the public after several years of anticipation, Rosey noted that selected traders have been operating in the building’s stall lots since June 25.

“Utilities such as water and electricity have been fully connected to the building, which features a well-designed and comfortable layout,” she said.

Rosey commended the Tusan Beach Community Committee for its crucial role in collaborating with Subis District Council to ensure that Tusan Beach remains a major attraction for tourists visiting the Subis district.
