Sarawak hopeful InnoSTRE 2022 will help advance education, innovation

KUCHING, Oct 26: Sarawak is hopeful to discover new ideas, research findings and suggestions from the 2nd International Conference on Innovative Sciences and Technologies for Research and Education (InnoSTRE) 2022 that could help enhance Sarawak’s education, innovation and talent drive.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg believes that the presentations at this conference will help Sarawak to shape and construct effective policies for the betterment of Sarawak.

“I am looking forward to discovering various themes and topics covered in this conference that will contribute to the rapid advancement of talent competitiveness in Sarawak.


“I envision the societal challenges highlighted in this conference would bring both education innovation benefits and improve wellbeing of the people,” he said in his speech read by Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn when officiating InnoSTRE 2022 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.

The international conference is a collaborative effort between Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak, Anhui Medical University China, and Universitas Jambi (UNJA) Indonesia and supported by ACEC Association.

It has gathered some 250 participants from eight countries including Australia, Thailand, China, Cambodia, Indonesia, Russia, United Kingdom and Malaysia.

InnoSTRE 2022 drew some 250 participants from eight countries, including Malaysia.

Themed ‘Probing the Societal Challenges Through A Unified, Interdisciplinary Platform’, InnoSTRE 2022 provided a platform for academicians, non-academicians, practitioners of government and private agencies to foster and transform their thoughts, ideas and research into output with potential commercial value to help in the economic growth for the natural science, engineering and technology, education, humanities and social science-related industries.

With societal challenges rapidly evolving, Abang Johari said the InnoSTRE 2022 was just in time to introduce and explore the many challenges through a unified, interdisciplinary platform that will benefit education and innovation in Sarawak.

“This conference will be a platform for scientific researchers and practitioners with similar interests to be aware of latest developments in their fields, and this will help advance knowledge and its application as well as find sustainable solutions to existing problems in moving the State forward.

“We welcome your feedback, suggestions or inquiries made in relation to the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development,” he added.

UiTM Sarawak rector Professor Dato Dr Jamil Hamali, Anhui Medical University vice president Prof Dr Liang Chaozhao and UNJA Rector Prof Dr H. Sutrisno were among those present. — DayakDaily
