KUCHING, Oct 28: The Sarawak government is planning to promote the Sarawak Regatta internationally, and other festivals, through special flight services.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed that these flights would be part of next year’s initiatives after the acquisition process of the airline is completed.
“Next year, after the airline acquisition process is done, we will have a special flight to promote the Sarawak Regatta to international participants,” he told reporters when met after officiating at the Sarawak Regatta-Kuching Waterfront Festival 2023 here today.
According to Abang Johari, he was informed that there are a lot of parties that wanted to participate in this year’s Sarawak Regatta event but could not do so as they faced organisational constraints.
For example, he said, countries such as Spain wanted to send more than 100 paddlers to participate in the event.
“I think Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah will address this matter,” he added. — DayakDaily
